UBER AIRPORT: ABANDONED PICK UP
CONTEXT: Uber airport pick-ups are a high-intent, time-sensitive use case, particularly for curbside journeys where decisions are made within a short window. Session abandonment at this stage represents a significant missed conversion opportunity at a critical decision point.
OBJECTIVE: Recover abandoned airport pick-up sessions and convert high-intent users, while maintaining strong promotional efficiency and avoiding cannibalisation of revenue.
APPROACH: Built an abandoned session recovery journey across email, push, and in-app, offering 20% off airport pick-ups. Reduced communication timing from the previous 15 minutes to 5 minutes post-abandonment to better align with the narrow decision window, ensuring Uber was reintroduced while intent was still high. Messaging was kept direct and action-oriented to prompt conversion.
IMPACT: Drove a multiple five-figure uplift in daily incremental revenue, with extremely high promo efficiency (~38x above benchmark). The flow now operates as an evergreen automation, generating multiple six figures in weekly revenue.
INSIGHT: In short decision-window use cases like curbside pick-ups, timing is critical. Re-engaging users while intent is still active can significantly improve conversion, with even small optimisations unlocking substantial incremental revenue.
